Short answer
A 5-night Maldives honeymoon costs $1,800 to $3,650 per person from Kathmandu, including flights, a beach or water villa, half board and resort transfers. Overwater villas at the top five-star resorts push past $5,100. Seaplane transfers alone add $250 to $450 per person return.
Three costs are easy to miss. The resort transfer is a separate booking that can equal two nights of the room rate. The meal plan is close to compulsory because the island has no other restaurants, and moving from bed-and-breakfast to half board typically adds $70 to $100 per person per night. Alcohol is resort-priced, with a beer at $10 to $15.
Flights are the cheap part. There is no direct Kathmandu–Malé service, so you route via Colombo, Dubai or an Indian metro for a total of six to eight hours, and return fares run $320 to $520. Every nationality receives a free 30-day visa on arrival with a confirmed hotel booking, which removes the usual paperwork problem entirely.
Two levers actually reduce the bill: pick a resort inside the speedboat radius of Malé, and travel between May and September, when the same water villa costs 35 to 45% less than in the December-to-March dry season. The trade is more rain, though it usually arrives as short afternoon squalls.
